See below for my personal stock market Buys or Sells for this week:

The world market indices were all up this week.  Dow Jones 30, S&P 500, NASDAQ and Russell 2000 all hit new all time highs this week.  Also, the price of oil ended this week at almost the same price as last week.  Read more here:  http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-stocks-dow-industrials-try-for-another-record-close-2014-12-26?siteid=yhoof2

I continue to look for stocks that have good fundamental financial values, but stock prices near 52 week lows and, where possible, 5 year lows.

Bought MCD at $95 on 7/23/2014, with plans to sell it at $100.  It never got back to $100, but went to $96 in Sept and went to $97 in November.  After it went all the way down to $88.46 on Dec. 15 I decided that I should sell a $100 call as soon as MCD came back up enough for me to make $1 on the Call.

See the details on these transactions below the Weekly Summary table.

The U.S. market indices turned up on Wednesday, this week, and made up for all of their losses over the past 2 weeks.  Most of the world indices also had an up week.  I believe this is due to the Fed announcing that it will not raise interest rates until mid 2015.  The free money party is still going!  Also, the price of oil ended this week at the same price as last week.

I continue to look for stocks that have good fundamental financial values, but stock prices near 52 week lows and, where possible, 5 year lows.

My wife still likes Barbie dolls after all these years.  Over the past year, as we watched Mattel (MAT) go from $47.94 to $28.67, she has been pestering me to buy some.  At $28, MAT would be at a 3 year low.  Their 5 year low is $20.  When I see how much money my wife spends on Mattel “Frozen” dolls for the neighbor girls, I decided the only way to protect my cash flow was to own some Mattel, because they pay a 5% dividend.  Their dividend payout ratio is 72% which is above my max. target of 50%, but they are still solidly profitable, so I am hoping the dividend is safe.  Also, several of their toy competitors were downgraded this week on weak Christmas sales concerns, so I think the market is overreacting.

Mattel is much more than just Barbie. Read their Yahoo Finance Profile here:

Investment Idea Sharing Dec. 13, 2014

Investment Idea Sharing – Dec. 13 2014
See below for my personal stock market Buys or Sells for this week:
Buy Stock:  USO                                        Sell Stock: none
Buy (To Close) Covered Call: none              Sell (to Open) Covered CALL: none
Buy (to Close) Cash Secured PUT: none       Sell (to Open) Cash Secured PUT: none
See the details on these transactions below the Weekly Summary table.

The world market indices took a much bigger drop down this week.  The news is blaming these worldwide stock market drops on the price of oil which is still dropping.  That does not make sense to me, because low oil prices should actually LOWER costs for all the other businesses except the oil companies.  These lowered costs should actually raise the profits for next quarter for everyone except the oil industries.  Read more here:  http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/markets/2014/12/12/stocks-friday/20295995/

One other thing I noticed about this week’s drop.  Many of the worldwide stock market indices have now given back ALL of their gains for 2014.  But not the U.S. indices (Dow, S&P, NASDAQ).  Since I buy mostly American stocks, I will continue to be very cautious with before buying back in to the U.S. stocks in case our U.S. market decides to finally drop the rest of the way to be back in line with the other worldwide indices.

I continue to look for stocks that have good fundamental financial values, but stock prices near 52 week lows and, where possible, 5 year lows.

Weekly Summary Table of Worldwide Market Index Closing values:

Here are my Stock BUYs for This Week:
Stock Symbol: USO (Exchange Traded Fund)
Buy Date:  12/12/2014
Buy Price:  $22
Target Sell Price: $30
USO is an ETF that tracks the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil and other types of oil by purchasing futures contracts.  Saudi Arabia has been guiding OPEC to drastically lower the price of their oil since September 2014 and the price of oil has dropped from $105 in early July to $67 on Nov. 28.  I believe the Saudis and OPEC are playing a game of chicken with the United States shale oil producers to see how low OPEC can drive the price down before the US producers will give up.  Read more here: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/oil-stocks-crushed-heres-know-180000724.html

Oil prices for past 8 years:

As the price of oil has been going down, I bought USO two weeks ago at $28 and bought more last week when it hit $25, and bought more this week at $22.  I have a buy order for more if it drops to $20.  I will hold it as long as necessary for it to come back up.

The world market indices continued their slow creep to new 52 week highs. The Dow Jones 30 and S&P 500 hit new all time highs.  But this week’s big change was China’s Shanghai SSE index which was up 16% for the week and 37% year to date.  I do not own any Chinese stocks due to my worries about how honest their financial reporting is.  Read more here:  http://finance.yahoo.com/tumblr/blog-chinese-stocks-make-their-big-move-191342187.html

Oil prices for past 8 years:

As the price of oil has been going down, I had planned to buy USO if it got to $28 which would be a 5 year low.  It got to $28 on Wednesday this week.  I bought some.  Now, today, Friday, USO dropped to $25.58.  So, my 5 year low buy price target that USO hit on Wednesday (when I bought) has now become a 10 year low on Friday.  On Friday, the price of a $25 PUT expiring on Jan 17, 2015 had risen to $1 per share.  I have put in a buy order to buy more if USO gets down to $25.
