Investment Idea Sharing May 9, 2015

Investment Idea Sharing – May 9, 2015

See below for my personal stock market Buys or Sells for this week:
Buy Stock/ Fund:  none
Sell Stock/Fund: none

Sell (to Open) Covered CALL: none
Buy (To Close) Covered Call: none

Sell (to Open) Cash Secured PUT: none
Buy (to Close) Cash Secured PUT: none

See the details on each of these transactions below the Weekly Summary table.

I have several PUTs and CALLs that expire this Friday, May 15.  Several are close to expiring worthless and several are close to being executed.  So I am really looking forward to how the market closes this Friday.

The world market indices were mixed this week.  The US indexes (Dow, S&P 500, NASDAQ) remain near their all time highs.  Here are two articles about what was happening last week.

China’s Shanghai Composite Index (SSE) also remains near its 7 year high, which is a 100% increase from its 52 week low price.  I think the SSE is much more over priced than our US market indices.  Here is the Yahoo 10 year chart for the SSE composite index: https://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=000001.SS+Interactive#{"range":"10y"}

Yahoo and all of my other preferred websites do not report the Average P/E Ratio for the SSE, so I looked on the SSE website http://english.sse.com.cn/ and near the middle of the page it states this P/E is 20.73.  The Hong Kong Index (HSI) P/E is 1.6, and the Brazil (BVSP) is 6.4 (see below for my “Weekly Summary Table of Worldwide Market Index Closing values”).

I cannot find the P/E for other emerging market indices like Russia (RTS.RS), India (BSESN) and Mexico (MXX), so I need to do more research for these other emerging market P/E’s to see how they compare v.s. the P/E for China’s SSE.  Since emerging markets typically have less transparency on company financials than the US indices, this means more risk for fundamental investors like me when trying to place proper value on any company.  I will try to find better data on these emerging market P/E ratios.

The price of oil went DOWN this week and ended at $59.39, down from $59.63 last week.
