Investment Idea Sharing Feb. 7, 2015

Investment Idea Sharing – February 7, 2015
See below for my personal stock market Buys or Sells for this week:
Buy Stock:  none
Sell Stock: OPK

Sell (to Open) Covered CALL: none
Buy (To Close) Covered Call: none

Buy (to Close) Cash Secured PUT: none
Sell (to Open) Cash Secured PUT: USO, DUST

See the details on each of these transactions below the Weekly Summary table.

The world market indices were mostly up this week.  The price of oil continued up this week and ended this week at $51.69, up from $48.24 last week.

I have added a new Pre-Screened version of StockEvaluator.xls that screens for companies with good fundamental values whose stock price has dropped more than 10% over the past month.  Download this new screened spreadsheet here:  http://www.ultimatestockfinder.com/stockevaluator_monthly_drop.xls

I continue to look for stocks that have good fundamental financial values, but stock prices near 52 week lows and, where possible, near 5 year lows.

I am also looking for ETF’s that pay at least a 1% PUT Option premium for a 1 week expiration, at a strike price near their 52 week LOW.

Here are my Stock SELLs for This Week:

Sell Date:  2/4/2015
Sell Price:  $12.50
Buy Price:  $8.35
Buy Date:  2/14/2014
I bought Opko Health (OPK) on the hope that its founder, Dr. Philip Frost, would do the same thing with OPK that he has done for several other pharmaceutical companies he founded over the years and then sold to larger pharma companies.  I had sold a Covered CALL on OPK in June 2014 at Strike of $12.50 for $.60.  This call expired worthless in January 2015.  The news this week was that OPK was in a joint venture with Pfizer (PFE) to develop and commercialize a long acting human growth hormone.  I decided to take my 50% profit off the table and not wait for any more good news.

At $17.50/share, this option paid me 1.7% for a 1 week expiration time.
USO opened this week at $18.40 and closed at $19.47, so my PUT expired worthless.

Here is the Yahoo Profile for USO:  http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=USO+Profile

At $11/share, this option paid me 4.2% for a 1 week expiration time.
DUST opened this week at $12.82, then dipped to a low of $11.47, but ended the week at $13.45, so my PUT expired worthless.  I will look at selling another PUT on DUST on Monday.
